My highest recommendation, as to the best time to visit this region, is to come in the months of February, March and April when the area is in its most beautiful state when the flora and agricultural crops are the most verdant, vibrant and colourful.

As the centre of the Incan Empire, this region has many archaeological attractions built with pride and purpose and harmony with the magnificent natural surroundings. The most famous of these archaeological attractions is without a doubt the mountain top citadel of Machu Picchu. Other sites of significant status are those at Choquequirao, Saqsaywaman, Pisac and Ollantaytambo and those on the Inca Trail which are Llaqtapata, Runkuraqay, Sayaqmarka, Phuyupatamarka, Intipata and Wiñawayna. Other lesser known sites but equally worth visiting are those of Q'enqo, Puka Pukara, Tambomachay, Tipon, Pikillaqta, Rachi, Pumamarca, Huchuy Cusco, Moray and Las Salineras.

Many of the sites and tourist attractions can be economically visited by using the Boleto Turistico (Tourist Ticket) which can be purchased up to 5 days in advance of the first day of use. If your time is limited, for a small service fee the ticket or tickets can be picked up on your behalf and delivered to your choice of accommodation. This ticket also includes Moray now.

The same service is also available for the entrance tickets to the site of Machu Picchu.
